Site Updates: In case you missed it – software release feeds 🚀

I spend a lot of time curating and aggregating the latest content featured in This Week in Self-Hosted. As a part of this effort, I recently wrote some Python API scripts to scrape GitHub release data and use it to generate custom feeds (excluding pre-releases and beta updates). This week, I made these feeds publicly available for readers interested in following their own collection of projects via RSS.

Follow the link below for more information and to view the appendix of feeds, or check them out on our self-hosted RSS instance at releases.selfh.st.

Self-Hosted Spotlight: Cosmos

Meet Cosmos, a self-hosted platform for running server applications securely with built-in privacy features. Cosmos comes with a number of features for those looking to streamline their self-hosted deployments – an app store with pre-configured installation options, reverse proxy, authentication server, homepage, identify provider, and more all wrapped up into an easy-to-use interface.

Cosmos touts itself as a competitor to server operating systems like Unraid and CasaOS. And while security and privacy are boasted as the biggest reasons for deploying it, we can see how Cosmos might be useful for new users embarking on their self-hosting journeys or those who just don't have the time to manage the various aspects of externally-accessible self-hosted services.
