Weekend Discussion: People who self-host podcast servers - why?

Seriously, though.

There are a ton of obvious reasons why someone might want to host their own video or music streaming servers – cost, complexity of media availability (too many streaming services), avoid commercials, privacy, etc.

Yet aside from privacy, most of these issues don't apply to world of podcasting. Most podcasts aren't exclusive to specific platforms, don't require subscriptions, and can be subscribed/listened to from just about any application.

So, for everyone who deploys software like Audiobookshelf to horde and stream their favorite podcasts – why? Drop a comment below.
